Festa Desperato
Dis-story
There are more versions about how Festa was founded because everyone has his own memory so some facts can become a bit distorted as time goes by. In the very beginning there was a band called RAZIE, coming from a village southern from Brno (south-East of Czech Republic) playing quite energetic crusty punk with pretty weird childish lyrics, and also Mirek Kokavec who used to drive with the band sometimes and who was just starting his label Ultima Ratio at the time. Razie tape was his first release. But he also wanted to sing in a band so he started asking some people - Paaya, at the time the guitarist of a local short-lived band DETI SNETI (Children of Anthrax), was the youngest one and they knew each other just for a few months, chatting at local punk gigs. Then there was that guy called Vapno (that means "lime" in Czech, but he's actually black as hell...), the drummer of Razie, and finally when Slavek who was supposed to have been the bassist left Brno (he later joined Mass Genocide Process or currently Morkhimmel as a vocalist), another Razie member called Kamil joined the group and in September 2002, the band started rehearsing in the former Razie's practice room - a dark tiny cellar room. Razie split up in a month as well as Deti Sneti did some time earlier. The rest continued learning how to quickly switch from playing a normal-paced punk rock to a crazy thrashy hardcore punk. By the end of the year there was a first gig which ended up in a 10 minutes long total noisy self destruction game with Paaya smashing Mirek's head to blood with his guitar. In February there was a second gig under a temporary name Festa De Furor followed by a small tour around Czechoslovakia with friends from AD CALENDAS GRAECAS - already under the name Festa Desperato - which means something like "celebration of despair", but incorrectly translated. In May 2003 we recorded a demo tape called "Prvnich..." in a DIY studio Moc Plevele in Vrah club in the town of Roznov pod Radhostem. It includes no more than ten minutes of raw hardcore punk (some said it sounded like Kaaos/Wretched/Crudos... but they were deaf) and a Reagan Youth cover. By the end of the summer another guitarist joined the band - Marek, who used to play bass in MRTVA BUDOUCNOST some years ago. In fact, he played his first gig with us just the day before his first rehearsal... Another even shorter recording including a Rattus cover was done in the autumn, but it hasn't been released yet. At that time we have moved to See you in hell's practice room to Brno. After the winter south-European tour with the Slovakian thrashers from S.I.K.A. Mirek decided to leave the band because of personal discords with the others. But anyway he played all the arranged shows including a 4-days minitour with Sick Terror and the final July "No Speed Limit" fest 2004 in Brno. Mirek later formed several new bands - BASTO, SCARTO or KORUBO. At that time we were already rehearsing with MateSS by the microphone. About a month later we dismissed Kamil and took Miruus on his place. After a three months break we started playing gigs again in September, with a new line-up and songs and then finally in the beginning of 2005 we recorded the new stuff - again in Moc Plevele, released as "Zivot ve hrichu". A year later we released our first 7" "Novy Babylon" in co-operation of various DIY labels from Czech. Since that time we were playing shows, did very few mini-tours mostly around Czech, Slovakia + sometimes Hungary, Germany, Austria or Romania (probably the most chaotic trip being the one with Beton from Slovakia, ending up with a score of total acumulation of dementia, 6 crazy shows, 3 knife-stabbed van-tires, 2 gang fights and 1 arrest). We went on writing new songs for an LP but before actually recording it we got stopped by a personal crisis of some members (combination of loss of enthusiasm, drugs, fucked up work conditions, children, no money to even come to practices etc.) that lasted for three shitty years when we were practicing only rarely, searched for a new drummer and recorded 2 songs for a local compilation LP + the basis for our full length, all with the help of Tom - the drummer of RISPOSTA. By the fall of 2009 things got finally better, we started working again in the original line up and in May 2010 we played our first show since the summer of 2007, together with Roxor and Discharge. And the rest is no history, but present...
